DCI summon Junet over Odinga’s attack in Uasin Gishu

Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed claims that he has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations over Raila Odinga’s attack in Uasin Gishu.

Junet made the claims on his official Twitter handle Monday afternoon.

“Good morning Hon Junet Mohamed. My name is John Gachomo from DCI headquarters; I am kindly summoning you to our offices for an interview on Tuwsday 5th April, 2022 in regards to the stonning of Hon Raila Odinga’s chopper in soy constituency Uasin Gishu County,” read Junet’s tweet.

Junet becomes the first legislator from Raila Odinga’s side to be summoned by the investigative body regarding the violence meted on the ODM leader on Friday.

So far, the DCI have placed three lawmakers at the centre of the attack. They include; Soy MP Caleb Kositany, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and David Kiplagat, speaker of Uasin Gishu County Assembly.

On Sunday, the three recorded statements over the attack on Azimio la Umoja coalition Presidential while distancing themselves from the incident.

According to the DCI, chaos erupted at the close of a burial ceremony in which Odinga was in attendance, and stones including other projectiles were hurled at the former Prime Minister “by incited youth, maliciously damaging his helicopter’s windscreen.”

At least 17 persons have been captured and taken to police custody following the attack.
