The vampire superhero movie is currently showing in cinemas across Kenya.
Morbius, the latest comic book adventure from Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters, opened in first place at the domestic box office, though ticket sales were considerably lower than recent superhero blockbusters.
Despite terrible reviews, even before its cinematic release, the film has made $44.9M in international cinemas (according to Box Office Mojo) boosting its total to $84M inclusive of the American box office in its first week.
The earnings indicate that audiences love comic book movies even though not every superhuman character is greeted equally on the big screen; the character Morbius is in no way as famous as Batman. The Batman which premiered in March made $248.5M in its opening weekend.
The film directed by Daniel Espinosa, stars Jared Leto as the titular character, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris and Michael Keaton, reprising his role from previous Spider-Man films.
Morbius is still showing in cinemas across the country.
