Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua says Maendeleo Chap Chap party is firmly in Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
Speaking after a special meeting convened by Maendeleo Chap Chap Governing Council, Mutua announced Maendeleo Chap Chap had unanimously decided to support Raila Odinga’s presidential bid after the party’s concerns were addressed.
“With the urging of party members, I present myself for consideration as the running mate for the position of the Deputy President. I know with him, he will be sending me and I will rushing Chap Chap way and get it done,” Mutua said.
This comes after days after a section of parties complained of being sidelined under the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition, Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Alfred Mutua announced the party had unanimously decided to back Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
In a special governing council meeting convened to discuss options available for the party ahead of the August 9 polls, Governor Mutua expressed his desire to be Raila’s running mate.
Underscoring the need for leaders to work together under Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, Mutua called for a handshake between him and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
“I am ready for a handshake, so, let us cease fire and forge forward as a team to secure Raila’s Presidency,” he added.
Meanwhile Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Richard Ngatia has pledged to set up level three hospitals in every ward in the city if elected Governor.
Speaking after being endorsed by a section of clergy and Kikuyu elders in a rally in Kangemi, Ngatia also promised to give each ward 10 machines for making cabros that will be bought by the county government for construction of roads.
