Finance Bill 2022 to undergo first reading on Wednesday

The Finance Bill 2022 is expected to undergo first reading on Wednesday afternoon at the National Assembly.

The tabling now set the stage for the consideration of Jubilee administration last budget of what is considered a legacy budget for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The bill was last week presented in the National Assembly together with the budget estimates and the Appropriation Bill.

In the bill, counties have been allocated 370 billion shillings, while the big Four Agenda will receive a total of Ksh 146.8 billion.

The conditional grants kitty for counties has been allocated 37.1 billion shillings while parliament and judiciary will receive Sh50.2 and 18.9 billion shillings respectively. 5.9 billion shillings will go to the Office of the Auditor General.

The bill also proposes to amend several acts which include Kenya Revenue Authority Act, the Tax Appeals Tribunal Act 2013, the Tax Procedure Act, the Income Tax Act, the Statutory Instrument Act and the Excise Duty Act among others
