In Kenya’s modern day politics, marketing and branding have become an integral part of a successful campaign.
Unlike years ago when politics solely relied on posters, politicians are now going out of their way to integrate their political messages on their vehicles.
This mode of campaigning started gaining traction five years ago. In a show of might then opposition outfit CORD unveiled branded choppers and vehicles that it would use for campaigns for the 2017 General Elections.
The Jubilee Party also unveiled a large number of branded high end Toyota Landcruiser Prados.
The political season is here again. In this year’s General Election, Kenya will have its fifth president following the end of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s second term.
Also, Kenyans will be seeking to electing their representatives and leaders in various positions ranging from gubernatorial, senatorial, MPs, and members of the county assemblies.
The stakes are high, and many politicians have been outdoing themselves with political marketing.
Interestingly, the branding that started in 2017 has grown into a mainstream mode of passing political messages as well as showing one’s might.
For instance, in February 2022, the Jubilee party paraded a fleet of high-end fuel guzzlers which will reportedly be used in campaigns ahead of the August 9 elections.
Videos showed the branded campaign vehicles were spotted at Jubilee headquarters signifying the party’s readiness to hit the campaign trail.
Similarly, other major parties such as UDA and ODM have also been pushing their messages with branded vehicles. But it is not just parties that are using vehicles to pass their messages.
Individual politicians have also been unveiling their own branded convoys. However, not everyone can afford to have vehicles branded with their political posters or images, especially if one has no vehicles.
But there is a solution for you if you are a politician aspiring to contest for a political seat in the upcoming general elections, and you find yourself in this position of lack of resources to have your own branded vehicle passing your campaign message.
