Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru was convinced that she would bag the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket to run for the Laikipia East parliamentary post.
In fact, the lawmaker had her eyes trained on the General Election and not the UDA primaries.
But hey! Never count your chicks before they hatch, at least she has learnt that now.
Waruguru was thrashed the current area MP Amin Deddy.
Deddy garnered 12,743 votes while Waruguru trailed him with 5,595 votes.
Apparently, when the controversial Woman Rep was insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta and The Service Party (TSP) leader Mwangi Kiunjuri, who is also eyeing the Laikipia East seat, Deddy was engaging the grassroots’ people.
However, Waruguru claims that she was betrayed by the man she once declared she was politically married to: William Ruto. She described the DP as Mr Tall, Dark and Handsome, that was then.
Today, she is accusing of her political husband of injustice.
On Saturday evening, Waruguru wished her supporters a happy Easter, but promised to make a “big announcement” after the holiday.
“Easter is meant to be a symbol of hope, renewal, and new life. I want to thank my supporters for their continued support as I assure them that all is well.I will issue a comprehensive statement on my next course of action after the Easter holiday,” she. wrote.
Her options are still plenty, but all are big gambles and not even one she can bet on to get the justice she is demanding.
One she can decide to appeal the nomination results to the UDA Disputes Resolutions Committee. Before the hearing, she will have to pay Ksh100,000 and remember the case can go either way.
Waruguru can also opt to resign as a member of UDA and run as a independent candidate. Historically, independent contenders do bad in the General Elections.
Still, she has the option of dumping Ruto and going back to President Kenyatta and launch bare knuckle attacks against the DP.
Alternatively, she can negotiate a government position with Ruto and continuing supporting the wheelbarrow party, but that is subject to the UDA party leader winning the presidential race.
