Over eighty cows, countless number of sheep and goats have drowned in Bariongo County.

According to a grazer, he was taking the flock to the market to sell in search of school fees when the bridge collapsed while crossing the bridge.

The collapse of the bridge follows the heavy weight of the animals; the bridge is also used by nine villages in Baringo and sagged down in the ongoing downpour being experienced in the country.

The residents are calling on the government to uproot the collapsed bridge which is currently blocking the rain water from flowing.

“We will lose our lives, crops and property if this bridge will not be pulled out as the water will not be following its route. Our children will also be carried away by the floods,” said one of the residents.

They said the children looking up to resume schools will have difficulties to continue learning if the bridge won’t be timely reconstructed.
