Raila Ends His US Tour Prematurely

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga has cut short his 5-day official travel to the United States to attend the burial of Kenya’s third president, Mwai Kibaki, on Saturday, April 30.

Odinga will return to the country on Wednesday, April 27, according to Raila Presidential Campaign Secretariat Press Secretary Dennis Onsarigo.

“Rt Hon Raila Odinga, the Azimio la Umoja -One Kenya Coalition flag-bearer, will cut short his current US tour and return home on Wednesday ahead of the funeral of former President Mwai Kibaki,” Onsarigo stated in a brief statement.

Raila’s trip to the United States was supposed to end on Friday, April 29.

He will arrive in the country on the day that the public viewing of the late President’s body, which is lying in state at Parliament buildings, comes to an end.

Friday, April 29, has been designated as a national holiday in anticipation of Kibaki’s funeral on Saturday, April 30.

Kibaki passed away at the Nairobi Hospital on Friday last.

He has been ailing for three years, according to his son, Jimmy Kibaki.
