List: Over 40 Independent Candidates Cleared Run For Presidency

The Registrar of Political Parties (RPP) has cleared over 40 candidates to vie for President in the forthcoming 9th August polls.

The aspirants who will be running for the presidency as Independent candidates will be seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who has served for 10 years.

They will face leading contenders Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Party boss Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto and Safina flagbearer Jimi Wanjigi who are also eying the top seat.

The candidates who have been cleared by the registrar are:

This will be the longest list of presidential election ballot papers since multi-party elections in 1992 If all of them will be cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

According to RPP, 7,111 individuals are seeking to run as independent candidates for various elective seats across the country.

Of these, 104 are those seeking governor seats, 141 (Senate), 110 (Woman Rep), 944 (MPs), and 5, 765 (MCAs).
