DP Ruto Advises Kalonzo to Snub Azimio Running Mate Interviews: ‘Heshima si Utumwa’

Deputy President President William Ruto now claims that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is facing a humiliating running mate interview in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party.

On Wednesday, the UDA presidential candidate emphasised the importance of respect for all leaders.

Ruto went on to say that Kenyans must band together to put an end to the deception-based political culture that some politicians are known for.

“Despite the fact that we are rivals, subjecting HE Kalonzo to a humiliating ‘interview’ is a form of impunity. We must band together to end the political deception culture that some politicians have cultivated. Every leader, regardless of circumstance, is entitled to dignity and respect. The DP tweeted, “Heshima si utumwa.”

This comes just hours after the Wiper party’s leader stated that he would not be present for the seven-person interview team that will be conducting the interviews today.

Showing up would be “demeaning,” according to the former vice president, who should be Raila Odinga’s obvious choice.

“I would like to inform all Kenyans that I will not be participating in the aforementioned process. I find the entire thing demeaning to my person and will thus distance myself from it,” he said.

His friends have also advised him to stay away from the interviews.

“We don’t want a deputy president like William Ruto,” said Junet Mohamed, secretary-general of the Azimio Executive Committee.

“Our guiding principle in choosing a running mate for the Azimio Presidential candidate is that we don’t want a deputy president like William Ruto,” the Suna East MP tweeted.

Bishop Peter Njenga, Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth, Senator Enoch Wambua, Michael Orwa, Dr. Noah Wekesa, Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa, and Beatrice Askul Moe are among the panel’s members.

They plan to finish the exercise by May 10, six days before the IEBC’s deadline of May 16.

Martha Karua, Peter Kenneth, Kanini Kega, Sabina Chege, Charity Ngilu, and Peter Munya are expected to appear before the panel.
