Businessman Jimmy Kibaki has set the record straight after a Twitter handle using his name declared that he was supporting Deputy President William Ruto for the top job.

He has since stated that the account does not belong to him, adding that he is has not joined Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

“It has come to my attention that multiple phony Twitter accounts are impersonating me and claiming I support the Kenya Kwanza camp,” Jimmy said.

He said that his relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta is deep and he cannot go against him, politically. He, however, did not reveal whether he will vote ODM chief and Azimio flag bearer Raila Odinga, who is Uhuru’s choice successor.

“Any right-thinking Kenyan, who is aware of the 62-year history between the Kenyatta and Kibaki families knows that my commitment to President Uhuru Kenyatta is unwavering, and our 50-year friendship survives. As for who I will vote for in the upcoming presidential election, is my secret, just like it is for my fellow citizens.”

Apart from alleging that the former’s eldest son had joined DP Ruto, the pseudo accounts also claimed that Jimmy was planning to run for the Nyeri Senate post, which he has denied.
