Former National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende has expressed his gratitude after being proposed for the position of Senate Speaker if Azimio wins the August election.

In a post on his social media page, Marende said, “I hereby register my utmost gratitude to Raila Odinga for proposing me for the position of Speaker Senate in his Government. I feel exceptionally honoured and privileged to be accorded this opportunity.”

This is the clearest indication that Marende may now shelve his Vihiga County Gubernatorial aspirations where he was the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) candidate.

The Party was at hand to thank Raila for the gesture saying the decision will safeguard Devolution.

Raila made the announcement when he unveiled Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua as his Presidential running mate.

The Azimio flag bearer also revealed he would nominate Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka as a Chief Cabinet secretary to coordinate functions of the Government if elected, a nomination Kalonzo dismissed saying he has severed links with Raila and proceeded to unveil his Presidential running rate.

Others who would be considered for appointments if Raila wins include Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who would be the CS Treasury, Peter Munya would retain his Agriculture portfolio while Governor Hassan Joho would be CS for Land to deal with historical land injustices in the coast region.
