Two Form Four students from Maraba Secondary School in Nandi County’s Aldai Constituency were are in police custody for allegedly attacking their teacher.

After waylaying him on his way home late at night, the two are accused of beating him and breaking his right hand with blunt objects.

The tutor, who rebuked Josphat Kiplimo, 22, and Collins Kipruto, 18, for interrupting the luncheon line, is claimed to have enraged them.

The event aroused outrage among education stakeholders, forcing authorities to detain the two students, who are currently being held at the Kobujoi Police Station awaiting arraignment.

The arrests came a day after the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) stormed the education offices in Nandi South, demanding that the two students be punished.

If their safety was not secured, the union threatened to withdraw their members from the school.
