Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia has condoled with the family of late freedom fighter Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi following the death of Ted Mukaria.
Mukaria, who passed away Tuesday night, was the only son to Evelyn Kimathi, the daughter of the late freedom fighter Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi and Mama Mukami Kimathi.
In his message, Governor Kimemia eulogised the 25-year-old as a courageous young man who never faltered in his determination to excel in his field of interest-art and environment.
“Teddy embodied the spirit of sacrifice and service to the public through his devotion to improving the environment through the Dedan Kimathi Foundation, where he was a dedicated member, supporter and worker,” said Kimemia.
He recalled Teddy as an astute rapper, contemporary dancer and a performing artist having awarded him during the 2020/2021 Nyandarua Talent Search Show where he excelled in the genre of Solo dance.
“Teddy was a wonderful and thrilling artist with an exciting sense of humour coupled with unparalleled humility,” he said.
“His death at the tender age of 25 years is a terrible loss, not only to your family but to Dedan Kimathi Foundation, environmentalists, the youth and Nyandarua County as a whole. I sincerely hope that the Almighty God remembers you at this trying time,” he added.
Mukaria had been to Lamu with his friends since last week on a tree-planting drive to mark his 25th birthday. He was scheduled to jet back to Nairobi to record a song Wednesday after successfully planting 30,000 trees with his crew of 40 youths.
However as fate would have it, he fell ill at night and was rushed to a local dispensary by his friends and upon reaching they were advised to take him to Mpeketoni Sub-County where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
