President Uhuru Kenyatta has lauded his Cabinet for their commitment in supporting his service delivery agenda during his tenure.

In a brief meeting at State House before heading to Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum, President Uhuru said, “Mine is to say thank you, it’s a wonderful 59th day of Madaraka. We look forward to having a great day, it will be my last Madaraka as President and I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you, we have worked well with you. It has been both a pleasure and honour to have you with us.”

A majority of Cabinet Secretaries donning yellow sashes had converged at State House ahead of the celebrations.

“I’m confident we have laid a firm foundation for those who shall come after to build a bigger, brighter, and more prosperous Kenya from where we have left off,” President Uhuru said.

Interior CS Fred Matiangí took time to thank the President for the trust he bestowed on them to serve as Cabinet Secretaries saying the last 10 years have been exciting working in the public service and serving the Country.

“The threat of terrorism still exists but a lot has been done to reform the security sector, we have enhanced capabilities and we are ready for any security challenges,” He said.

CS Matiangí said under President Uhuru, they have created a Government where they serve Kenyans effectively saying improving issuance of passports, the successful war against cartels in the Ministry of education and moving the country from analogue to digital broadcasting are some of the highlights of his legacy.

“President Uhuru has more than kept his promise, he has over performed. He has moved our Country to a totally new level. We added 10000 police officers every year translating to about 100000 new police officers. We are now able to police the Country effectively,” He said.
