The Ministry of Health in partnership with the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, WHO, USAID and UNICEF have launched an accelerated Covid-19 vaccination campaign targeting Nairobi County.

The multi-agency Covid-19 vaccination campaign dubbed “Kanairo Tuko Chonjo” was launched at Kibra Level 3 Hospital.

The campaign follows an upsurge in cases with the country’s capital having consecutively reported over 65 new daily cases over the past five days.

According to Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache, the accelerated campaign targets to have at least 70 per cent of the population in Nairobi vaccinated in the next six weeks with the region posing a threat of another pandemic wave owing to its high population density.

The ‘Kanairo Tuko Chonjo’ campaign also seeks to debunk myths and rumours around Covid-19 vaccination and to make the vaccination process much easier for Kenyans.
