Musalia Mudavadi ANC party leader now says he will be in charge of government affairs should Kenya Kwanza win the August 9 presidential election.

Speaking during a political campaign trail in Hamisi, Vihiga County, the ANC party leader said his Prime Cabinet Minister position in the Kenya Kwanza government will enable him to supervise ministries.

“I will be like the prime minister in the Kenya Kwanza government. I will be running government affairs. I am urging you to vote for Ruto and Kenya Kwanza,” he said.

At the same time, Mudavadi called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure it is adequately prepared to conduct the August 9 polls.

“It is systems go for the August vote. A vote of liberation from the high cost of living. The electoral agency should put all systems in place to ensure a credible election.

“No amount of sabotage should be allowed so that the polls are postponed,” he said.

According to the Kenya Kwanza agreement, the position of the Prime Cabinet Minister will be created within 14 days if the alliance wins the August 9 election.

Ford Kenya will nominate the candidate who will be the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Both ANC and Ford-Kenya will also get 30 percent of the government, including Cabinet slots, Principal Secretaries, High Commissioners, and other State jobs.

If the alliance forms government, the President shall within 14 days create the position of Prime Cabinet Secretary – the equivalent to Prime Minister – and whose roles have been defined in the agreement.

The roles are distinctive from those of the deputy president.
