Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter is heading for a third time in Parliament after clinching the much coveted United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket in a hotly contest nominations.

The wheelbarrow party conducted fresh primaries today, April 19, in Nandi Hills after last week’s exercise was marred with irregularities and chaos.

UDA, whose party leader is Deputy President William Ruto, was against Keter’s candidature, arguing he not loyal to the party and its leadership.

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi had camped in the constituency to rally voters to bundle out Keter.

Sang and Sudi implored the residents to pick Benard Kitur.

Well, it seems Keter no amount of forces can convince the majority of the locals to let in a newcomer.

For the better part of the day, there have been running battles in Nandi Hills, with supporters of the sitting MP chasing away outsiders.

Sudi and Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami were roughed up and ordered out of the area.

Keter’s supporters claimed that they were trying to influence voters and rig their man out.

The results are out and evidently Keter has outfoxed the UDA machinery.

He garnered 10,398 votes against Kitur’s 7,434 votes.

The lawmaker stormed the streets of Nandi Hills to celebrate his victory.

Sisi hatupangwingwi (no one can plan for us),” he chanted alongside his diehards.
