After more than a month’s break following suspension of sporting activities in the country by President Uhuru Kenyatta over surge in Covid-19 pandemic numbers, FKF Premier league is set to resume on May 14,2021.
In the rescheduled double header fixtures of the campaign,12 time Kenya Premier league winners AFC Leopards will play against 2008 champions Mathare United, while title holders Gor Mahia will entertain local moneybags Wazito FC on Wednesday 12 May, 2021, at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
On Friday, May 14, Kariobangi Sharks will welcome Kakamega Homeboyz at Kasarani Annex while on Saturday, May 15, seven matches will be played across the country with Western Stima hosting Posta Rangers at Moi Stadium in Kisumu and Tusker coming up against KCB at Kasarani Annex.
In other matches, Bandari will entertain Bidco United in Mombasa, AFC Leopards entertain Nzoia Sugar at Kasarani Stadium, Mathare United invite Vihiga United at Kasarani Annex, Gor Mahia come up against Nairobi City Stars at Kasarani Stadium while Sofapaka will face Wazito at Wundanyi Grounds.

According to the fixture released by the federation, the league will take a break from June 6 to June 13 to allow the Harambee Stars to confront Uganda in their opening match of 2022 World Cup qualifiers and also travel to face Rwanda in Kigali.
Last month, teams availed their players to receive the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in readiness for league resumption.
The vaccination process was facilitated by top football governing body, FKF in conjunction with the Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Health in a move meant to facilitate the safe resumption of football in the country.
FKF President Nick Mwendwa had appealed to the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Heritage to allow the resumption in the county so as to have a feeding pool for the National team who will are set to take part in the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers in June with their first match slated in June against Uganda.
“I would like to appreciate the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Heritage for making the vaccine available to our players and now appeal to them to push for the safe resumption of Football in the country, to help us continue feeding the National team who are getting ready to take part in the 2022 Qatar World Cup Qualifiers in June,” said Mr. Mwendwa.
Tusker FC are currently on top of the table with 33 points after playing 15 games while KCB is distant second having collected 29 points with two games in hand.
