Anne Wambere Ngirita has joined a swelling list of notorious graft suspects who have declared interest for political seats in the coming General Election.

On Tuesday, February 15, she threw a hat in the ring for the Nakuru Woman Representative position.

Ngiriti said her party of choice is the Jubilee Party of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The National Youth Service (NYS) scandal suspect said she was inspired by ODM leader Raila Odinga to join Azimio la Umoja through the ruling party.

“I heard baba (Raila) saying on TV that we should go back home and realised I was lost. That’s why I joined Jubilee,” she said at the offices in Nakuru.

Last week, a poster indicating she run for the Naivasha parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket circulated on social media networks.

She confirmed that she joined UDA, but it was not a decision she made herself.

“It was out of peer pressure. It is not a party I liked,” she said.

If elected the represent Nakuru, Ngiriti promised to address issues affecting women, children, and youths.

“I am a young woman and a mother of two. I understood the challenges women and youths face and I will bring solutions”.

However, Jubilee Party has rejected her, saying she will have to clear with the courts and investigative agencies before being subjected to nominations.

Ngirita, her mother, and two siblings shocked the nation when they were implicated in NYS theft, with the prosecution claiming that she defrauded the agency of more than Ksh100 million.

However, the family members denied the charges relating to economic crimes, accusing a senior investigative officer of framing them to settle scores.

In their affidavit, they claimed that Julius Kingoo set them up after ending a trade partnership with him.
