The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has announced that several parts of Nairobi are set to go without water for 24 hours.

According to NCWSC, the water supply will be shut down from Thursday, 14th at 6:00 am to Friday, 15th April at 6:00 am.

The shutdown will facilitate the interconnection of the relocated new and old water pipelines.

“The exercise will be conducted on Uhuru Highway between Haile Selassie Avenue and University Way junctions with Uhuru Highway to enable the release of the road corridor to the Expressway contractor,” NCWSC said in a statement.

The following are the areas that will be affected by the scheduled interruption of water supply:
The whole of City Centre, Ngara, Parklands, Areas along Limuru Road, Aga Khan hospital, University of Nairobi Parklands law campus.
Areas along Mombasa road, South B and South C areas and the neighbourhoods.
University of Nairobi main campus, Coca Cola Factory, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, EP-Athi River.
The whole Industrial Area
Areas along Jogoo road: City Stadium, Maringo, Bahati, Buruburu and the surrounding estates

The company appealed to residents of the affected areas to use the water they have sparingly as it endeavours to restore the normal supply.

“We appeal to our customers for indulgence and also urge them to use available water sparingly as we work towards restoring the supply,” the company said.

NCWSC also apologised to residents of the affected areas for the inconvenience the shutdown will cause.
