Azimio-OKA Deal Nigh as Raila, Raila Hold Secret Talks

ODM leader Raila Odinga and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka met on Sunday morning amid talks of re-uniting ahead of the coming General Election.

Sources revealed that the two held talks in the morning hours at a Mombasa hotel. Kanu chairman Gideon Moi was also present.

However, nothing much was shared with the public about the breakfast session.

Even so, it is understood that Raila’s Azimio la Umoja wants to close ranks with the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) of Kalonzo.

Should the deal go through, OKA will have to fold and join Azimio.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been at the forefront in trying to broker a deal between OKA and Azimio.

Barely two weeks ago, the Head of State disclosed that he was fully behind Azimio.

“We want to bring all Kenyans together using Azimio. This is a campaign season and expect me on the ground to market by preferred successor (Raila),” he during a meeting with over 3,000 youths at State House in Nairobi.

Earlier this month, the President had hammered an agreement to bring Azimio and OKA together, but everything collapsed at the last minute.

On February 3, the former Prime Minister canceled his political engagements in Busia and flew back to Nairobi to sign put the deal, but the Wiper boss stepped back.

He was unhappy after bloggers went on a rampage about the partnership. Kalonzo wondered private talks had reached social media and asked for more time.

Some of his allies are not jittery about a deal with Raila. They argue that since he did not honour their previous MoUs, even this time around he might do the same.

However, the Political Parties Act has provided clear laws to guide coalitions, making it hard for one party to betray the other,
