The media fraternity has been thrown into mourning following the death of legendary news anchor Badi Muhsin.
It has now emerged that the KBC journalist died this afternoon after a short illness. He was in Mombasa for a work-related assignment.
According to multiple sources, the respected Kiswahili newscaster started his day well, but things changed when he took his lunch.
KBC Radio Taifa breakfast show host Bonnie Musambi, who also doubles as a Kiswahili news presenter at KBC Channel One, wrote in a social media post that the colleague decided took take a rest and that was his last moment on earth.
“My mentor and friend Badi Muhsin is no more. He reportedly felt unwell after lunch, took a rest, and never woke up,” Musambi said.
He mourned Muhsin as a kind person who helped him get a footing in the media industry.
“He literally held my hand since I joined KBC. He listened to me on Radio Taifa every day, including this morning. I don’t know where to begin. I’m clearly heartbroken. Rest well Badi,” he wrote.
Both experienced and up-and-coming journalists have also condoled with the family.
Most of the veteran journalists acknowledged that at point Badi mentored them while young scribes mentioned that he inspired them to join the profession.

Fred Ombachi Machokaa: “People, this is difficult to deal with, very difficult. Rest in Peace my brother, my friend, and my colleague. This one hurts real deep.”
