La Liga giants FC Barcelona have announced that their new signing, Sergio Aguero, will be out for 10 weeks due to injury.

In a statement, Barca said that tests conducted on the Argentine forward had confirmed a right calf injury.

“Tests carried out on first-team player Kun Aguero have confirmed a right calf injury. He will be out around 10 weeks,” Barcelona said in a statement.

Aguero joined Barca as a free agent after his 10-year spell at Manchester City came to an end last season.

During his time at City, he became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, with 260 goals in 390 games.

Aguero won the Copa America this year with Argentina, alongside Lionel Messi, who confirmed his departure from Barca on Sunday, 8th August.

The 34-year-old appears to be on the verge of signing for French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Aguero’s 10-week absence means he may not make his first Barca appearance until late October.

He now joins new teammates Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele, who are also being treated for injuries.

Barca will begin their 2021/22 La Liga campaign at home against Real Sociedad on Sunday, 15th August.
