World football governing body FIFA has invited acting Football Kenya Federation president Dorris Petra and the association’s Chief Executive Officer Barry Otieno to their Congress meeting slated for Thursday in Qatar.

The duo is part of the football officials who were suspended on the 12th of November when Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed disbanded the local federation and ordered that their headquarters be locked.

Subsequently, Amina announced the formation of the Football Kenya Federation caretaker committee which has been running football activities in the country since November.

The global body also invited suspended Zimbabwe Football Association officials for the high-profile meeting, where the suspension of the two federations is set to be ratified or stiffer penalties issued due to what FIFA terms as government interference.

Amina suspended the entire FKF secretariat and executive members last year citing miss appropriation of funds and also ordered the locking of the secretariat offices, which is against the FIFA statutes.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino during a council meeting in February said that the council had found Kenya and Zimbabwe’s issues to be a clear case of undue interference by a third party.

Kenya and Zimbabwe were suspended by the world’s football governing body, FIFA, owing to government interference in the operations of the national football federations.
