A Belgian man whose girlfriend created a buzz among netizens after the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) froze her bank accounts on grounds of illegal transactions has finally opened up.

Her 22-year-old girlfriend, Felista Njoroge, found herself in trouble with the government after receiving a total sum of Ksh102.6 million from her Belgian tycoon boyfriend Merc De Mesel.

In a YouTube video, the financier whose source of wealth is Bitcoin mining confessed that he had sent the money to Felista because she is her girlfriend, and also she is currently heavy with his child.

Merc further told off Kenyan authorities for mishandling him by conducting disorderly raids in his premises after he sent money to his partner.

“Four officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) invaded our home and arrested my girlfriend and me because I gave my girlfriend a gift.

“My girlfriend explained to them the money was just a gift because we are together, and we are also having children together because she is pregnant. It was horrible,” he narrated.

The investor pleaded with the Government to haste the investigations as he had nothing to hide. He stated that he was ready to explain his source of wealth to the authorities.

“I hope the money-laundering investigations will be closed because there is nothing. I can prove my source of funds as we do all the time as investors,” he said.

This development comes days after KRA fired a warning to Kenyans who display a lavish lifestyle on social media, yet they were not paying taxes. In a statement, the taxman clarified that the move is aimed at smoking out tax cheats after reports that Kenya is losing billions of money in lost tax revenue due to rising cases of tax evasion schemes annually.
