Eyebrows have been by some Kenyans after two tycoons associating with Deputy President William Ruto met Kanu chairman Gideon Moi.

Business magnate David Langat and Jamii Telkom owner Joshua Chepkwony were sighted in an undisclosed location having a light moment with the Baringo Senator.

Details of their meeting, however, play close to their chest.
Kanu social media influencer, Ronoh Cornelius claimed that the trio was up to something that will have a seismic impact on the DP.

“Kalenjin billionaire tycoons David Lagat and Joshua Chepkwony with Gideon Moi today. Expect a volcano in Rift Valley very soon,” he said.

Chepkwony and Langat are in the exclusive club of wealthy individuals bankrolling the second in command.

Langat is the founder and chairman of the multi-billion shillings DL Group, which is involved in importing and exporting expensive products as well mass production of tea in Kenya and Tanzania. He is also the owner of the famous Eldoret Industrial Park.

The media-shy tycoon was in the company the DP in August last year when the latter was blocked from flying to Uganda at the Wilson Airport in Nairobi by the government. However, Langat and the other six politicians and business associates of Dr. Ruto were allowed to jet off.

In November 2021 when Langat’s daughter, Natalie, and her lover David Onyancha were holding their pre-wedding, the Deputy President put on hold his presidential campaigns to grace the ceremony.

Should he and Chepkwony decide to rally behind the younger Moi, this will be a big blow to the DP.

Moi is a co-principal in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA), a coalition likely to fold and join Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja.
