The family of renowned Nollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has become the latest to join the list of celebrities who have been struck by the COVID-19 pandemic.
At least four members of the family have tested positive with the most recent diagnosis being that of actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter Aradhya Bachchan.

Aishwarya is married to Bachchan son Abhishek Bachchan who alongside his father was admitted to Mumbai based hospital on Saturday, July 11.
“Superheroes Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan have been admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai after their coronavirus test came back positive,” Health Minister of Maharashtra state announced on Twitter.

Bachchan, 77, made his diagnosis public on Saturday, and also took the opportunity to urge those who were close to him during the previous 10 days to get tested.
“I have tested COVID-19 positive…shifted to hospital… hospital informing authorities…family and staff underwent tests, results awaited.
All those that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested,” Bachchan wrote on Twitter.

According to Abhishek, he was experiencing mild symptoms just like his father but told his fans that there was no need for panic.
“Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID-19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital.
We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you,” he said.

As of Sunday, July 12, India had recorded 867,020 cases of the virus out of which 22,762 were deaths and 541,227 recoveries.
Kenya’s cases crossed the 10,000 mark and settled at 10,105 after 379 more people tested positive on Sunday. The new cases included 49 recoveries and one death.
The country now has 2,881 recoveries and 185 deaths.
