Boniface Muchiri is set to leave Tusker for Ulinzi stars.

The 25-year-old is expected to join the Recruit Training School in Eldoret by next week and after completion of his six month training, he will be Ulinzi stars bound.

Muchiri, who joined Tusker in 2017, from the now-defunct Sony Sugar FC made his maiden appearance In 2018, when he scored two goals in his two matches with Tusker, helping his side win two league titles in 2020/2021 FKF Premier league and super cup titles.

During that period, he also played for the Kenya U23 and the senior national team, Harambee Stars. The attacker also played for Nzoia Sugar FC.

Muchiri played his last match with brewers last Sunday against Sofapaka which ended in a barren draw at home ground in Ruaraka.

This signals the end of his five year career with the Ruaraka based club Tusker FC with his head coach Robert Matano wishing him well as he moves to the military. He hailed him as a good and disciplined player.

“He is like a son to me and when he told me of the decision he had made, I understood him. Sometimes you have to look at life beyond football. This is an emotional moment for me because I brought him into the team and we have been together since I came in. I wish him all the best in his new adventure,” said head coach Robert Matano.

Muchiri who was equally emotional thanked everyone at the club and wished the team well. He reserved some praise for coach Matano.

“Tusker has been a family for me for the last five years and I will be eternally grateful. I am the player I am today because of Tusker FC.

“I got the opportunity to play for the national team here, won the league title and the Super Cup here, grew both as a player and a person here and I want to thank everyone from the management, my teammates and the technical bench more specifically coach Robert Matano who was like a father to me, may God bless him,” he stated.

He further stated that football is a career but he could not turn down an offer from the KDF. “Football is a short career for some of us. We are responsible for taking care of our parents back at home.

This calls for planning well and if KDF promises you a job if you play for them, it is an offer you cannot turn down.” said Muchiri. ?
