“I’m currently at Nairobi Area. The charges against me are unclear though they seem connected to Mwariro Market. I will keep fighting for my constituents. Being a leader is tough but my resolve remains unshaken. Allocations at Mwariro Market have to be fair,” he tweeted moments after his arrest.
Nairobi police commander Philip Ndolo confirmed the arrest and revealed that the legislator was accused of incitement to violence.
An hour before his arrest, the MP, alongside a handful of youth, conducted an inspection exercise of Mogira Road in Ngara Ward. The road connects Dr GW Griffin Road to Park Road.
“It’ll help ease business operations for eateries, guest houses, & depots. Park road Primary with 1200 pupils & Nairobi Technical Training Institute with 5000 students also lie on this road,” he stated during the inspection.
The Starehe MP had also inspected the progress of Muthurwa Access road within Muthurwa market.
“Fairview and Northview roads within Pangani ward are amongst the roads whose maintenance will start in about two months’ time,” he said when residents gathered around him during the exercise.
However, according to the latest reports, his arrest is alleged to be in connection to a group of youth who forcefully attempted to take over shops in Nairobi’s Grogon area on Saturday, June 27.
