Bloggers who have been selling Deputy President William Ruto’s bottom-up economic model and ‘hustler narrative’ have said enough is enough.
The online campaigners took to social media platforms to claim that they have been working without pay.
Kevin Kiiru started the conversation with a lengthy post explaining how Tanagatanga bloggers are suffering.
He argued that the ‘Handshake’ team that supports President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga has a better and effective online strategy because of cooperation.
“In the DP’s camp, we are suffering. A bloggers texts you saying that he/she has no data bundles to market our policies. Also, there is no unity in our camp, just some greedy individuals who want to shine alone,” he said.
Kiiru added that senior digital strategists in Tangatanga did not want to mentor up-and-coming bloggers.
Other social media campaigners rooting for Dr. Ruto’s presidency joined the debate, saying Kiiru spoke the truth.
Maggie Sonnie said Kiiru spoke the “bitter truth”.
In her comment, Wambui wa Githurai noted that it was unfortunate that those who complained were being removed from Tangatanga WhatsApp groups.
Others claimed that self-proclaimed ‘hustler’ spokesperson Dennis Itumbi, who leads the Tangatanga online brigade, is the problem in their camp. They accused him of eating their money.
The protests coincide with the ongoing fight over the DP’s millions across the country.
Boda boda groups and ‘mama mboga’ have been claiming they don’t get a share of handouts even after a promise from the second in command.
Some lawmakers and politicians have been faulted for taking the DP’s money and failing to donate to the target groups.
