A five-storey building under construction in Kinoo, Kiambu County collapsed and leaned on the adjacent seven-storey building causing serious damages.

According to reports, the incident happened at around midnight on Sunday, 6th March. No one was injured during the incident. The fallen building was certified by the National Construction Authority (NCA).

The site of the incident has been cordoned off by the National Police Service.

The National Construction Authority (NCA), County officials, National Building Inspectorate, the National Disaster Management Unit and other members of the multi-agency team have embarked on investigations.

“A full report will be issued once comprehensive investigations are concluded,” NCA said in a statement.

The Authority’s Executive Director, Eng. Maurice Akech said efforts are underway to ensure the safety of the adjacent building and the surrounding development is not affected.

The incident comes barely six months after a five-storey building under construction partially collapsed in the Kinoo area.

The building which was nearing completion collapsed on 3rd September last year. Later on, the building was safely demolished under the supervision of engineers from the NCA and county government officials.
