The country woke up to yet another traumatic incident of suspected homicide and suicide, this time around involving a couple in Kiambu County.

According to a police report, a businessman allegedly shot his wife dead before turning the gun on himself.

Jonathan Mukundi Gachunga, a licensed firearm holder, reportedly shot his wife, Philomena Njeri, in the head and then took his own life at their Kiambu home.

The bodies were found in their bedroom, which had been locked from the inside.

Police say investigations were launched after a friend of Gachunga, who was an investor in the hospitality industry, raised the alarm.

The friend reported that he was not picking up calls, which was unlike him.

Investigators are yet to reveal the motive behind the deaths, but sources intimated that suspicion of infidelity could have been the cause.

It is alleged that the Njeri left their matrimonial home five months ago and only returned recently.

However, she was reportedly pregnant, something that did not sit well with her husband, as he knew he was not the father of the unborn child.

The lovebirds had been together for 10 years, but they were childless.

Musicians and entertainer who worked with Gachunga said they were still in shock.

Mugithi maestro Samuel Muchoki aka Samidoh took to their Insta stories to mourn his friend.

“What is this life?” he posed.
