Caf Clears Nyayo Stadium to Host Gor Mahia’s Confederation Cup Match

Confederation of African Football (Caf) has cleared Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia, to host Congolese side Otoho d’oyo in their Confederation cup clash at the Nyayo National Stadium.

K’Ogallo will face the Congolese champions in a two-legged tie, the first leg scheduled for 28th November at Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat.

The second leg which is slated for 5th December will be played in Nairobi.

In a statement on Wednesday, 17th November Gor Mahia’s sporting director Lordvick Aduda confirmed that they have managed to secure a temporary use of Nyayo Stadium for their fixture against Otoho d’Oyo.

Aduda further said that they were working on the approval of fans to watch the game.

“CAF approved our request to temporarily use Nyayo Stadium. We are now working on fulfilling requirements to get clearance for fans to attend our Caf match against Otoho. We will update on progress,” Aduda said in a statement.

The venue for the return match was not yet confirmed as Caf had banned both Nyayo and Kasarani Stadium from hosting International matches after failing to meet the required standard.

Defending champions Tusker FC, who are taking part in the also expect a similar clearance before their home match against Tunisian side CS Sfaxien.
