Celebrities, Kenyans mourn actor Charles Bukeko

Kenyans on social media are mourning the death of Kenya’s legendary TV star Charles Bukeko popularly known as Papa Shirandula.

Bukeko of the popular TV series Papa Shirandula that aired on Citizen TV was announced dead on Saturday, July 18, a fortnight after he was taken ill at Karen Hospital.

To honour his death Kenyans took to various social media platforms to send their messages of condolences to his family.

Several leaders joined Kenyans on Twitter in sending their condolences while sharing memories of the famed actor among them Governor Wycliff Oparanya and KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua.

“Rest in peace Charles Bukeko alias Papa Shirandula. You were a self-made man who epitomised the joy and optimism of Kenyans, wrote KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua.

“You made a huge contribution to the entertainment industry in Kenya. We will miss you. May God give peace, comfort and strength to your family and fans,” he added.

A number of his fans hailed him for the role he had played a huge role in naturing young talent in the entertainment industry.

“Papa Shirandula played a pivotal role in the success of the current generation of comedians. He never mentioned or bragged about it,” tweeted Zephania Onchiri.
