Christian Eriksen’s Move to Brentford Edges Close

English Premier League’s (EPL) side Brentford is setting a seal on a six-month contract with Christian Eriksen.

The bees management are now assessing the fitness of Eriksen before finally asking him to obtain a work permit.

An immense medical analysis is expected to be done on the player because he suffered a cardiac arrest just seven months ago while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020 and has an ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) fitted to his heart.

Before enlisting to play for Brentford, Eriksen must be signed off by a club-assigned sports cardiologist.

The Football Association (FA) had recommended that the cardiologist must be a member of their Cardiac Consensus Panel, which is chaired by Dr. Sanjay Sharma – Eriksen’s former doctor at Tottenham because it would not do its test but rely on the report submitted by the qualified cardiologist.

Brentford is not on hot pursuit for the player since he is a free agent and had been restricted to play for Inter Milan of Serie A Italia since it is illegal to play professional sport in Italy with an ICD fitted to the heart.

It is not illegal in the UK for Eriksen to play with an ICD, but if he does, he will be the first-ever in the Premier League.

Eriksen has been training with Ajax to keep fit since he is not currently signed to any football club.
