Christian Faithful across the world celebrate Ash Wednesday

Catholic faithful across the country joined their counterparts worldwide to usher in Ash Wednesday which marks 40 days of the Lenten period . During this period the faithful are expected undertake penance, pray, fast and give alms. On this day the faithful’s foreheads are marked with ash denoting the origin of man from dust. This year the faithful are being called upon to pray for peace.
