Connections! Waihiga Mwaura’s Wife Replaces Kambua at Citizen TV

Royal Media Services (RMS) owned station, Citizen TV, has unveiled Kambua Manundu’s replacement after she exited the station barely a month ago.

In a statement released by the media giant, former Switch TV presenter and Gospel musician, Joyce Omondi, will now take over the Sunday show dubbed Rauka, which was hosted by Kambua, who had worked for RMS for 12 years before hanging her boots.

Joyce is a wife to Waihiga Mwaura, the award-winning Citizen TV news anchor. They tied the knot in 2015.

In an interview with a local publication, Joyce disclosed that RMS had contacted her to inquire if she is contented to fill the vacancy after Kambua’s exit.

“The show had a host, Kambua, and when she informed the management that she would be transitioning from the show, then that created an opening, and then I guess my name came up in the discussion, and they reached out,” she stated.

A cross-check on her LinkedIn profile indicates that Joyce is an experienced media personality and had once hosted a Gospel Sunday show on Citizen TV in 2013.

She also worked as an intern in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Trade, Economics, and International Trade Directorate section before taking a full-time job as a communication manager at Financial Sector Deepening Kenya (FSD Kenya).

On Switch TV, she co-hosted the Full Circle show with life coach Benjamin Zulu, which mainly focused on family life and relationship topics.

After two years at the station, which is closed down, Joyce announced her resignation in December 2020.

“Without change, there is no innovation, creativity, incentive, or improvement. The curtain finally closes today, but the show must go on with Mwikali Mary as the new host of Full Circle. We thank you, Joyce Omondi, for being part of Switch TV,” read a statement from Switch TV at the time of Omondi’s exit.

Joyce will now join DJ Gee Gee and Timeless Noel on a show that premiers every Sunday on Citizen TV.
