The Ministry of Health on Sunday, 5th December confirmed 29 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours. This brings the country’s caseload to 255,437.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement issued in Nairobi that the cases were detected from 2,933 samples tested, raising the total to 2,855,761. The country’s positivity rate stands at one per cent.
From the new cases, 24 are Kenyans while five are foreigners with 19 being males and 10 females. The youngest is a five-year-old child while the oldest is 75.
Kagwe said 22 patients have recovered, 13 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while nine are from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 248,426.
No deaths were reported. The countrywide Covid-19 death toll remains at 5,335.
There are 185 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 807 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care Programme.
Some four patients are in the ICU, three of whom are on ventilatory support and one on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.
Another 55 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 53 of them being in the general wards. Two patients are in the High Dependency Unit.
Vaccination: As of 4th December 2021, a total of 7,554,149 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 4,611,958 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 2,942,191.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 57.3 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 10.8 per cent.
