Covid-19: 5 New Deaths as 117 Test Positive

At least 117 more people have tested positive for the coronavirus within the last 24 hours.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, 20th October Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the cases were detected from 6,004 samples tested within the same period pushing the cumulative number of samples tested to 2,654,013.

The latest cases have pushed the national Covid-19 tally to 252,308. The positivity rate now stands at two per cent.

Of the new cases 110 are Kenyans while seven are foreigners with 63 males and 54 females. The youngest is a four-month-old infant while the oldest is 91.

Some 209 patients have recovered from the disease, 116 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program and 93 from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 245,786.

Sadly, five more patients have died, raising the total number of deaths to 5,238.
