Covid-19 Caseload Hits 195,111 as 801 Test Positive

The number of Covid-19 cases in Kenya surged to 195,111 after 801 people tested positive from a sample size of 5,850 tested in the last 24 hours.

This brings to 2,074,610, the cumulative number of samples tested so far. The country’s positivity rate stands at 13.7 per cent.

Kagwe said that 293 patients have recovered from the disease, 322 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care Program while 159 are from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 184,461.

Some 15 more patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the fatality to 3,826.

There are 1,248 patients currently admitted in various health facilities, while 3,862 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 

At the same time, 135 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU),38 of whom are on ventilatory support, 70 on supplemental oxygen and 27 patients are under observation.

Another 356 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 320 of them in general wards and 36 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

Distribution of Cases in Counties:

Nairobi registered 319 cases, Mombasa 77, Kilifi 71, Nakuru 60, Uasin Gishu 45, Kiambu 36, Makueni 28, Machakos 17, Siaya 12, Kajiado, Nyandarua and Kericho 11 cases each, Homa Bay 10, Nyeri, Taita Taveta, Murang’a and Kisumu nine cases each, Kirinyaga eight, Embu, Laikipia, Lamu and Garissa five cases each, Bungoma, Kwale and Turkana four cases each, Migori, Nandi and Nyamira three cases each, Kisii and Kitui two cases each while Narok, Baringo, Bomet and Marsabit had one case each.
