Kenya on Friday, 27th August, announced 932 new Covid-19 cases from 9,424 samples tested in the last 24 hours. There are 233,801 confirmed cases in the country.
This has raised to 2,352,240 the cumulative number of tests conducted since March last year. The country’s positivity rate is at 9.9 per cent.
Of the new cases, 909 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners, with 459 being females and 473 males. The youngest is an 11-month-old infant while the oldest is 100.
The number of Covid-19 deaths continued to rise as 31 more patients succumbed to the virus, raising the total number of deaths to 4,666.
A total of 1,457 patients have recovered from the disease, with 1,309 from various health facilities countrywide while 148 are from home-based isolation and care. The total number of recoveries now stands at 218,228.
There are 1,953 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 8,022 are under the home-based isolation and care programme.
Some 161 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 108 of whom are on ventilatory support, 49 on supplemental oxygen, and four under observation.
Another 699 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 627 of them in general wards and 72 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
The cases are spread in counties as follows: Nairobi 282, Kiambu 91, Kitui 66, Nakuru 65, Kajiado 62, Murang’a 46, Marsabit 32, Machakos 29, Garissa 25, Nyandarua 21, Tharaka Nithi 20, Isiolo 17, Mandera 14, Turkana 13, Uasin Gishu, Mombasa and Laikipia. 11 cases each, and Meru and Busia 10 cases each. Kakamega and Kisii had nine cases each, Tana River and Lamu eight cases each, Homa Bay and Kericho, six cases each, Bungoma, Taita-Taveta, Nyeri, Kilifi and Makueni, five cases each, Migori and Wajir four cases each, Elgeyo Marakwet, Embu and Kisumu three cases, Nandi and Narok two cases each while Siaya, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot and Bomet had one case each.
