Covid-19 Cases Rise to 253,853 After 20 More Test Positive

The number of Covid-19 infections countrywide has risen to 253,853 after 20 people tested positive in the last 24 hours.

In a statement issued on Monday, 8th November, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new cases were detected from 3,136 samples, bringing to 2,741,836, the total number of samples tested. The country’s positivity rate stands at 0.6 per cent.

From the new cases, 19 are Kenyans while one is a foreigner, with 11 being males and nine females. The youngest is a two-year-old infant and the oldest is 89.

Kagwe said 70 patients have recovered from the disease with 55 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 15 are from health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 247,370.

No Covid-19 related deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, and therefore, the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,312.

There are 402 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 1,093 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Some 33 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 18 of whom are on ventilatory support and 15 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 112 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 112 of them in the general wards. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The new cases are distributed in counties as follows: Nairobi eight, Nyeri and Uasin Gishu three cases each while Bungoma, Embu, Kajiado, Kisumu, Migori and Murang’a had one case each.
