Kenya has recorded 69 new Covid-19 cases from 5,345 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This has raised the national tally to 254,453.
There have so far been 2,780,991 cumulative tests. The Covid-19 positivity rate stands at 1.3 per cent.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 17th September, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 66 are Kenyans while three are foreigners with 32 being females and 37 males. The youngest is a one-year-old baby and the oldest is 99.
Kagwe said 80 patients had recovered from the disease with 36 from various health facilities countrywide, while 44 are from the home-based isolation and care programme. The total number of recoveries now stands at 247,791.
Some three more patients have succumbed to the virus, raising the death toll to 5,325.
There are 362 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,013 are under the home-based isolation and care program.
At the same time, 23 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 10 of whom are on ventilatory support and 13 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.
Another 117 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 114 of them in general wards and three in High Dependency Units (HDU).
