The rate of COVID-19 transmission has gone down by 18 percent in the last two months in Laikipia County.
Governor Ndiritu Muriithi said the decrease is a well indication that the County has done well in curbing the spread of the virus.
Muriithi said at some point the Country’s transmission rate had risen to 30 percent during the 3rd wave of the virus.
He however noted that this rate is still high and people should continue adhering to the laid down COVID-19 protocols to further reduce the transmission rate.

The Governor said Laikipia county in collaboration with Mpala Research Centre are conducting a survey to ascertain the different COVID-19 variants in the County so that they can advise on the best treatment and care methods.
Addressing the media in Nanyuki he said that the survey is at an advanced stage and the scientists will soon make public the results.
He added that the County has stepped up the war on those flouting COVID-19 regulations saying over 250 offenders have been arraigned in court so far.
