The Kenya Cycling Federation began preparations for the forthcoming 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmigham, England by holding a national team trial championship in Muranga County.
The trial in Murang’a is among a series of team selection events lined up across 7 counties in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kajiado,Murangá ,Eldoret and Kiambu Counties.
The first leg of the trials attracted a total of 113 cyclists who took part in six categories including the para cyclists, elite and youth.

According to Kenya Cycling Federation Secretary General Charles Mose said that they will also use the series to select a team that will participate in the forthcoming African Confederation Cycling Championship due in March in Burkina Faso.
“The cyclists will accumulate points in the different series to be held and those with the highest points will make the team. Our next stop will be Nakuru and thereafter Bungoma in March, Mombasa in April and will eventually finish off back here in Murang’a”, remarked Mose.
Meanwhile, the trial series will also serve as selection avenue for the youth team that will feature at the ANOCA Zone V games due in Egypt in August.
