Former Shujaa Captain and KCB’s back-rower Andrew Amonde says the bankers are ready for the Impala RFC clash this weekend in the Enterprise cup semi-finals.
Amonde said his side will take a different tactical approach in the match to ensure they register positive results as they aim to clinch their only diadem this season.
‘’This is the biggest thing that we can get this season we were not able to win Kenya Cup but we have changed our focus, we have refocused as a team, and we aim to end the season with something at the end of the day so we target to beat Impala and qualify for the finals’’, Amonde stated.
Winger Jacob Ojee echoed Amonde’s sentiments saying the squad was ‘hungry’ for a trophy this season following Kenya Cup heartbreak.
“We last won the Enterprise Cup in 2017, that’s such a long-time considering kcb is a winning team. We have the depth in our squad to clinch this season’s title.” He said.
The bankers lost to Impala in a similar semi-final clash last season and according to Amonde the tie is a must-win encounter having bowed out of the Kenya Cup.
‘’I think we learnt our lesson from the past, Impala has been one of the sides that messed us up after we aimed higher before meeting them, we are focusing on the match we respect them and also focus on ourselves stick to what we have done as a team and try and carry the day’’. Amonde said.
Some of the big names in the squad will be joining the Kenya 15s (Simba’s) but despite them missing, Amonde reckons they are still favorites ahead of the clash.
‘’ We will be playing the game without a number of players out with Kenya Simba’s, most of the guys are the ones who have been playing in the Mwamba Cup, its a different team and with a few experienced guys we will just be able to stick to our course and win the game’’,Amonde remarked.
Defending champions and recently crowned Kenya Cup winners Kabras sugar will lock horns with Homeboyz at their home turf.
