English Premier League side Everton on Monday, 31st January announced the signing of Donny van de Beek on loan from Manchester United.

The 24-year-old Dutch midfielder was allowed to leave Old Trafford by interim boss Ralf Rangnick after struggling for game time.

Van de Beek, who will wear the No 30 shirt for Everton will stay at Goodison Park until the end of the 2021/22 season.

“Now I can say I am an Everton player, I am really happy and can’t wait to help the team. I think it is a great club… there are really good players here and I came because I want to help them go up the table,” Van de Beek told evertontv.

“I hope to bring my football qualities, my passing, and, of course, scoring goals. It is a big part of my game to score and give assists and I will try to do that again. And it is not only offensive, you have to defend as a midfielder and I can do that as well.”

Van de Beek will now link up with new Everton boss Frank Lampard at Goodison Park. The Chelsea legend was confirmed as Rafael Benitez’s successor on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Since joining United from Ajax for a £35m transfer fee in August 2020, Van de Beek has started only four English Premier League matches, and none this season.

His Manchester United departure follows Anthony Martial’s exit on loan to Sevilla and teenage winger Amad joining Rangers on a temporary basis.

Van de Beek had attracted interest from Crystal Palace but effectively chose to become the first signing of Everton manager Lampard.
