Deputy President William Ruto has introduced another narrative into his bottom-up economic model, claiming that even Jesus is a product of an approach he says will put the country’s economy on the right path.
The second in command narrated the story of Jesus, stating that the Messiah’s life fits the description of a person who rose from nothing to command a huge following across the world.
He said Jesus was despised by many people because his father was a peasant.
“Jesus is a product of bottom-up, he was born by a manger before fishing many followers,” he said while in Thika, Kiambu County.
According to the DP, the bottom-up approach is all about empowering small and medium traders so that they can change their lives.
He reiterated that “his administration” would set aside Ksh100 billion to support small enterprises across the country.
Dr. Ruto hit out at his opponents, accusing them of undermining the poor.
“These people should stop their arrogance and despising the have-nots. Every hustle should be respected because (through BBI) they were proposing for positions, which would be taken by rich individuals,” he said.
Further, he taunted his main competitor in the 2022 presidential race, ODM leader Raila Odinga, for allegedly thriving on chaos to build his political profile.
“The man who mobilises his supporters to stone others should stop dividing Kenyans. He made sure our party Jubilee has collapsed. Next year we will not allow his reggae.”
The DP’s convoy was pelted with stones in Kondele, Kisumu County on Wednesday.
He faulted the former Prime Minister for “sponsoring jobless youths to attack his competitors”.
However, Raila distanced himself from the chaos, saying “I’m not a child to do such a thing”.
The police also cleared the opposition leader and stated the violence erupted after Ruto’s handlers disagreed over “campaign logistic funds”.
