DP Ruto Dishes Out Ksh7m in Hand Outs in Yesterday’s Campaign Tour

Deputy President William Ruto and his entourage from United Democratic Alliance (UDA) yesterday, December 4, toured Nyeri County in a bid to convince voters ahead of the 2022 General Elections.

DP Ruto conducted his first campaign of the day at Karatina Town where he gifted women groups and business persons engaged in mitumba trade Ksh3 million. He also gave bodaboda groups present in the function Ksh500,000 each.

In a move to lure women into voting for him as the fifth President of Kenya, the generous DP donated Ksh500,000 to the Konyu Women Group after he was overawed by their green and yellow attire same as that of UDA.

“I admire the spirit and tenacity I see in the women groups of Konyu in Mathira Constituency and across the country. I recognize this spirit, this desire to make tomorrow a better day financially, because it is the hustler spirit,” the DP stated.

The bountiful DP further expressed his generosity when he contributed Ksh500,000 to former Jubilee Party dancers who announced their shift to UDA.

DP Ruto’s campaign trail made their final stop at Mukurwe-ini constituency where he also gave a hefty handout of Ksh2 million to small businesses and bodaboda riders groups.

Further, Mathira lawmaker Rigathi Gachagua gave out Ksh2 million towards a project initiated by Karatina Women Group whereas Women Representative Rahab Mukami dished out Ksh40,000.

Addressing the locals at Mathira, the DP stated that his Government will allocate Ksh100 billion towards creating job opportunities and supporting small-scale businesses as part of their Bottom-Up economic model.

“By next year, if we form the government, we shall not be using money from our pockets but from government, coffers to support SMEs through the bottom-up economic model,” he said.

DP Ruto’s campaign technique of splashing millions of money comes as a tactical move to counter Orange Democratic Party (ODM) influence at Mount Kenya Region who have recently been popularising the Azimio la Umoja ideology.
